PRP is a medical application and should be performed by experienced and expert doctors in sterile environments. Platelet Rich Plasma method means the application of platelet enriched plasma. The basis of this application is the use of platelet cells obtained from the person’s own blood and plasma rich in growth factors.

For PRP application, a certain amount of blood is taken from the patient first. The blood taken is put into small tubes containing a special gel. By applying the centrifugation process, the blood in the tube is separated into its components. At the end of this process, PRP gel with a platelet density of up to 1.5 million per milliliter is obtained by separating the part of the blood consisting of red cells, with an average of 200,000 platelets per milliliter.

Platelets do not only have functions related to blood coagulation due to their structure. In addition, they secrete growth factors that have the ability to heal tissue damage. The PRP, in other words the part rich in platelets, obtained after centrifugation can be applied to areas such as the face, joints, hair, and neck by mesotherapy method. Natural growth factors, which have the ability to reverse the effects of tissue damage and aging, are injected directly into the area.

In case of any damage to the tissues, the repair process begins when the blood collects the platelets in this area. With PRP application, it is aimed to give more platelets to the target tissue than is possible to be transported with natural blood flow and to repair the target tissue faster and stronger.

What are the Features of PRP Treatment?

PRP is a method that can be used in the treatment of blemishes, wrinkles, skin cracks, hair loss, acne, and scars, joint and muscle diseases, as well as acute and chronic pain. Depending on the application, wrinkles and sagging in the area may decrease. With the application of procedures such as mesotherapy and ozone therapy together with the PRP procedure, the treatment process can be accelerated and the results obtained can be sustained.

In fact, the whole treatment process is started by increasing the platelet count with PRP treatment. Fibrin networks that emerge on the skin after the application collect the stem cells in the environment into its own structure and indirectly work with stem cells. Accordingly, with the application of PRP treatment, which is rich in platelet cells, to the skin, the repair and restructuring process of the skin is triggered.

PRP treatment should generally be applied in 4-6 sessions at intervals of 1 to 4 weeks. It is possible to repeat the PRP procedure after 6 to 12 months. PRP treatment is not applied to people who take blood thinners, have any blood disease, have a history of cancer, have autoimmune diseases, have infection or inflammation in the application area, pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding.

The results of PRP treatment, which is based on the regeneration of the skin, usually begin to be seen after the 2nd or 3rd session. After the PRP injection, the patient’s skin tightens, wrinkles are alleviated, sagging decreases, the brightness of the skin color increases, and the scars on the skin decrease. After PRP applications on the scalp, benefits such as condensation and increase in hair thickness can be achieved in areas where the hair is thinning.

The most important feature of the PRP procedure is that the rejuvenating effect provided by the application is not concentrated only on certain areas, such as the effects obtained with fillers or similar applications, but spreads to a much larger part of the skin and is more permanent. Although the results obtained due to other methods are permanent for a certain period of time, the positive effects of the PRP procedure belong to the person who is applied instead of disappearing. Since PRP treatment is a completely personalized procedure, there are no side effects after the application. Since the substance obtained from the person’s own blood is used in the injection, the risk of allergic reaction is minimal. Temporary redness may occur at the injection site. Apart from this, there is no other negative effect.

Who Can Apply PRP?

PRP is an effective procedure applied to have a better cosmetic appearance. The separation of platelet cells and the delivery of the obtained enriched plasma to the parts of the skin that show signs of aging provide a natural growth and rejuvenation effect on the skin. Since it is a procedure performed using one’s own blood, it is considered a healthy and non-allergic method.

Within the scope of PRP application, the platelet-rich plasma obtained by separating the blood taken from the patient is injected using fine-tipped needles to areas such as the face, hand, neck, and arm to be treated. Since it is a medical procedure performed, it must be performed by specialist doctors. Also, since it is one of the aesthetic surgery applications, it should be performed in clinics operating in this field and under hygienic conditions.

It is possible that the plasma obtained by centrifugation of the blood taken from the patient does not have the desired number of platelet density. For an effective result from the PRP method, more than 1 million platelets should be used. For this reason, doctors who specialize in PRP and use devices of international standards should be worked with. How thin the injectors are can be considered among the factors that affect the success of the procedure. For this reason, the procedure should be performed by plastic surgeons or skin specialist doctors using the right fine needles and the right techniques.
