In the simplest terms, breast fat injection is a fat transfer performed by transferring the fat from a certain part of the person’s body to another region. Fat injection is one of the most reliable methods of improving the cosmetic appearance of the person and can be used on the face, breast, hip, leg and hand areas. Also, the fat injection procedure can be preferred for the purpose of healing the scars.

Within the scope of the fat injection procedure, fat is removed from the area deemed appropriate, and the extracted fat is processed by going through the necessary processes. The purified fat is injected into the application area that is planned to be improved.

Curiosities About Breast Fat Injection

Breast fat injection method is one of the methods used for breast augmentation. In the simplest terms, in this procedure, the patient’s own fat, which is taken from certain parts of the body by liposuction and undergoes certain processes, is used.

Breast augmentation through fat transfer is generally preferred by people who want to achieve a small increase in the size of their breasts and a natural appearance. In the breast fat injection procedure, a certain amount of growth is achieved by using the person’s own natural fat, which is taken from the body and processed. Also, it is possible to obtain a more natural appearance compared to breast implants. The most important advantage of the breast fat injection procedure is that it provides regional thinning due to the liposuction method of removing fat from the donor areas of the body such as the abdomen, hips, and waist. Another benefit of the breast fat injection method is that there are no incisions or surgical scars in the patient after the application.

Breast fat injection method can be applied to persons:

  • Who have breast asymmetry;
  • Whose breasts are genetically smaller than what is considered normal;
  • Whose breast size or volume has decreased as a result of pregnancy or breastfeeding; and
  • Who want to eliminate changes in the shape, size or volume of their breasts due to aging.

One of the issues to be considered during the implementation of the breast fat injection method is the presence of sufficient amount of fat in the body of the person to whom the procedure will be performed. Also, there should be enough breast tissue in which the injected fat can settle and survive. Breast fat injection is considered an ideal method that can be applied to women who have sufficient breast tissue, enough fat to be taken from donor areas, and who do not want to increase their breast size significantly. However, if there is sagging in the breasts of the patient who will be injected with fat, breast lift surgery must be performed first. Otherwise, undesirable situations such as more sagging after fat injection may occur.

How is Breast Fat Injection Performed?

Adipose tissue is the most important adult stem cell storage in the human body. Fat in the abdominal region of the body contains much more stem cells than bone marrow.

The most frequently used method for breast augmentation today is undoubtedly breast augmentation surgery using silicone prosthesis. Although silicones, which are products of developing technology, do not pose any health hazards, some people do not want to have a foreign substance in their body, nor do they want to take the risk of any complications. The alternative method that can be used in this case is the breast augmentation procedure with stem cell enriched fat transfer.

Because of these features, breast fat injection has become one of the frequently used methods. The fat to be taken from the patient is determined by the evaluation made specifically for the patient, especially for the abdomen, waist and hips. The presence of fatty tissue and excess fat in the donor area in the body of the person to whom the fat injection procedure will be applied is an advantage that makes the process easier and faster.

Breast fat injection procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia. Intravenous fluids are injected into the area for easier collection of the fat to be taken from the donor area. Then, the determined amount of fat is taken by liposuction method and processed to separate debris, excess fluid and dead cells from living adipose fat cells. In some cases, the method in which the fat is washed with a sterile saline solution may also be preferred. By processing the extracted fat, it is possible to clean the fat cells that cannot survive in the graft.

Then, the processed fat is injected in the form of small droplets under the tissue of the area where volume is desired. The purpose of this procedure is to provide the best blood supply to ensure the survival of each of the injected fat grafts. The body absorbs some of the fat injected with the breast injection procedure. For this reason, it is preferable to inject a little more fat than the required amount. Since some of the fat cells injected in the breast fat injection procedure die, the fat melts and the body absorbs the fat cells that cannot survive. It cannot be predicted how much of the transferred fat cells will survive and how much will be absorbed by the body. However, factors such as the experience of the surgeon, how the fat collection and purification process is performed, and the characteristics of the application area are very important for the success of the procedure and the longevity of the results. If the fat is properly collected, purified and injected, it is usually possible to obtain permanent results as the injected fat cells will create a new blood supply at the application area and take the nutrients that will enable it to survive.
