Botox is one of the most popular medical aesthetic procedures in recent years. It can be defined as a method in which the toxin produced from the bacterium Colustridium Botulinium is used to open wrinkles on the skin and remove lines.

Wrinkles occur in the face area depending on factors such as genetic factors, environmental effects and aging, regardless of being male or female. Especially in people who use their mimics intensively, the muscle groups in the relevant regions are more active than normal. As a result, wrinkles may occur on the skin over the related muscle groups. The formation of wrinkles on the forehead or around the eyes can lead to an older, tired or sullen appearance than usual. Botox, which is one of the most effective procedures to remove or lighten these wrinkles, can intervene in wrinkles around the eyes as well as forehead lines. At the same time, it is possible to remove the frowning appearance and achieve a more dynamic appearance by intervening in the area between the eyebrows, with the effect of lifting the eyebrows to some extent.

How is Botox Performed?

Botox is a procedure that must be performed by experts and experienced doctors in the field. With the Botox procedure, the conductivity between the nerve endings that cause the muscles and wrinkles is cut. The function of nerve endings is suspended to a certain extent and for the duration of the effect of Botox. Botox can be applied to almost any area deemed appropriate for the treatment of wrinkles and small areas that have fallen down. However, the areas where the Botox procedure is most commonly applied are the forehead, the sides of the nose, the hands, the tip of the nose, the eyebrows, the décolleté, the area around the lips, the neck, under the eyes and crow’s feet.

Botox procedure provides softening and relief of the superficial wrinkles attached to the skin in the application area. As the muscles relax, the formation of more wrinkles is prevented. With the repetition of the Botox procedure, the duration of action is prolonged, the wrinkling of the skin is slowed down. Botox procedure can also be used to relax the jaw muscles. Thus, the general tension on the face is reduced, and the negative effects of clenching and stress problems are eliminated.

Botox is not a permanent procedure like surgical procedures. For this reason, it may need to be repeated at certain intervals according to the needs of the person. In addition, it may be necessary to repeat the application at certain intervals depending on the intensity of the use of mimics and the characteristics of the person’s skin structure. Although it varies from person to person, it may need to be repeated every 4-6 months. This increases the permanence of the procedure. In case of regular application, the area is trained not to mimic, since the contraction of the muscle in the application area is prevented. As a result, the frequency of application decreases after a certain period of time.

Botox is a Safe Medical Procedure

The Botox procedure is performed with an injection using very fine-tipped needles. It is possible to feel a very slight pain during the injection. If Botox is applied to reduce the movements of the mimic muscles, it is injected into the mimic muscles, if it is applied to eliminate the sweating complaint, it is injected into the skin.

Botox begins to show its effect within 48-72 hours after the procedure is applied. And this effect gradually increases. It takes 2-3 weeks to display the best results. During this period, problems such as asymmetry or irregularity may be encountered in the area where the application is performed. This situation is temporary and it is possible to correct itself with the effect of Botox.

Although the average duration of effect of the Botox procedure is 6 months, there is a significant weakening in the mimic muscles of people who have regular Botox for about two years. This situation can also provide permanent improvement in dynamic lines. Due to such benefits, Botox application is usually needed at longer intervals in the period after two years.
